A proven way to build faster & smarter. Together.

The Open Source Kit of Parts (OSKOP) is a collaborative initiative to accelerate low-carbon, cost-effective, and compliant construction through shared knowledge and open innovation.

What is OSKOP?

OSKOP is an open-source, IP-free Kit-of-Parts. Instead of being tied to a single supplier, it gives access to multiple UK manufacturers working to the same tested framework.

The result? A system with more test data than any other available in the UK, proving compliance in building safety, fire, impact, acoustics, and more.

With OSKOP, you get choice, resilience, and confidence – without the risk of a single point of failure.

Our collaborators

OSKOP is powered by a growing network of forward-thinking partners from across the built environment.

The 5 C's: Why OSKOP matters

A framework designed to address the industry’s biggest challenges:

Carbon

Radically reducing embodied and operational emissions.

Combustability

Ensuring safety through rigorously tested, approved components.

Cost

Driving efficiency and affordability through repeatable systems.

Capacity

Unlocking scalability to meet housing and infrastructure demand.

Compliance

Meeting building regulations and future standards with confidence.

Balancing embodied carbon reduction with the UK Building Safety Act compliance is a key challenge, especially with sustainable materials.

Fermacell®’s fire test data supported this methodology, helping achieve an embodied carbon impact of just 222 kgCO2e/m² - exceeding RIBA 2030 targets, while enabling a fast, efficient build.”

McBains Architects

For Treetops Free School, a DfE Net Zero Pathfinder project, we selected fermacell® for its superior fire performance and sustainability within a
timber hybrid structure. This project set a new benchmark for robustness and ultra-low energy schools, and our ongoing work with the OSKOP alliance continues to drive down carbon, waste, and costs whilst increasing performance in MMC construction

Zubin Masters - Bond Bryan

Because OSKOP is freely available, any UK panelised or timber-frame manufacturer can adopt its fully tested wall, floor and roof details.

This creates a true level playing field where competitors differentiate themselves through aspect that affect outcomes, such as service, price, capacity and experience.
